Ashes to Ashes Tour
October 19 @ 10:30 am CDT
$10.00The Port City’s Oldest Graveyard
This tour tells the stories of our early American citizens, including native French, English, Spanish, and Native Americans who grew Mobile from a Colonial outpost to a thriving port city.
Our tour begins at Oyster City Brewing, where guests can purchase one of many local and regional brews on tap. After an informative 2-block walk to the Church Street Graveyard, we will take a guided tour of the unusual monuments, historic people, and unusual characters buried there. Our guide will share stories about the gold prospector whose body was sent home in a barrel of rum, Yellow Fever victims, a mass grave, and a haunted tree! We’ll also see the Mardi Gras section where Old Joe Cain, the patron saint of Mobile Mardi Gras is buried.
- The tour begins at Oyster City Brewing, 600 Government St, Mobile, AL 36602
- Free on-street parking is available on Dearborn St. Just east of the Brewery.
