4 Alarm Fire Tour
Before professional firemen were hired and trained by the city of Mobile, volunteer fire companies protected the city from destruction by fire. This tour takes our guests on a treasure hunt to find five 19th century fire halls hidden in plain sight around downtown. Along the way, guests will hear about the deadly dangers these firemen faced, the intense competition among rival companies, as well as the important connections between Mardi Gras and fire halls.
This night time tour starts on Government Street and covers much of the historic shopping and restaurant district on the Dauphin and St. Francis corridor. Your guide will Along the way we’ll light a fire and try putting it out with by forming a bucket brigade.
