Joe Cain's grave at Church St Graveyard

This walking tour tells the story of Mobile’s most mystical Mardi Gras figure: Joseph Stillwell Cain. The tour includes the historic fire hall were Joe Cain and fellow firefighters reinvented Mobile Mardi Gras after the Civil War. We will also see the Creole Fire Hall, Cain’s grave at the Church Street Graveyard where Joe Cain Day begins, as well as parts of the parade route, the historic Kennedy Mansion, and the den of the Society of Independent Strikers formed in 1943. Guests will take home the Mardi Gras trivia game to test their knowledge!
